CHAPTER FIVE

IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

(Hari yang Indah)

                 Salah satu materi pembuka Kelas 7 Chapter  awal di Semester 2 adalah mengenai Adjective of Quality, yaitu suatu kata sifat yang mendeskripsikan mengenai kualitas dari sesuatu (nouns/pronouns) berupa orang (person/people), hewan (animals), dan benda (things). Berikut ini adalah beberapa jenis kata sifat yang menunjukkan suatu kualitas:

1.   Describing Physical Appearances

(Menggambarkan/Menjelaskan tentang penampilan fisik)

Contoh:

a.       Age (umur)                         : teenager (remaja), young (muda), old, middle aged,…

b.       Build (bentuk tubuh)      : fat (gemuk), thin (kurus), slim, slender,…

c.       Height (tinggi)                   : dwarf (kerdil), short (pendek), medium, tall,…

d.       Face (wajah)                      : round (bulat), square(persegi), wrinkled,…

e.       Hair (rambut)                    : bald (gundul), curly (keriting), straight, wavy, long, short,…

Read the following sentences aloud. (Baca kalimat-kalimat di bawah dengan keras).

Mrs Inah is old and Andi is young. (Ibu Inah tua dan Andi muda)	Robi is a thin man. (Robi laki-laki yang kurus)	The girl is short (Gadis itu pendek)
The boy has around face. (Anak laki-laki itu memiliki wajah bulat)	She has long and black hair. (Dia memiliki rambut panjang dan hitam)	He has curly hair. (Dia memiliki rambut keriting)

2.   Describing a Person’s characteristics

(Menjelaskan Sifat Seseorang)

Contoh:

a.       Smart     : cerdas                                               f. Friendly           : ramah

b.       Dilligent : rajin                                                  g. Funny              : lucu

c.       Bored     : bosan                                                 h. Religious        : agamis

d.       Calm       : kalem/tenang                               i. Brave                : pemberani/soleh

e.       Happy    : senang/bahagia                             j. lazy                    : pemalas

Read the following sentences aloud. (Baca kalimat-kalimat di bawah dengan keras).

Mr. Ahmad is a diligent man. (Bpk. ahmad adlah pria yang rajin)

She looks happy. (Dia terlihat bahagia)

He is a religious boy (Dia ank laki-laki yang soleh)

3.   Describing The Animal’s characteristics

(Menjelaskan sifat binatang)

Contoh:

a.       Ferocious/wild : ganas                                                  f. Short                 : pendek

b.       Fured                     : berbulu                                             g. Tall                    : tinggi

c.       Hairy                      : berbulu                                             h. Tame                               : jinak

d.       Savage                   : liar/ganas/kejam                         i. Cute                   : lucu

e.       Sharp                      : tajam                                                  j. Smart                                : pintar

      Read the following sentences aloud. (Baca kalimat-kalimat di bawah dengan keras).

The rabbit is so cute. (Kelinci itu begitu lucu)

It is a wild lion. (Itu singa yang ganas)

The giraffe has tall body. (Jerapah itu memiliki tubuh yang tinggi)

 

v  LISTENING (Mendengarkan)

Listen to the recordings and then translate the sentences into Indonesian language.

v  SPEAKING (Berbicara)

Practice the following dialogue with your friend. (Praktekkan dialognya bersama teman)

Diandra         : Good morning, Tina.

Tina                 : Good morning too.

Diandra         : Have you seen our newest English teacher?

Tina                :  Yes, I have. She is so beautiful.

Dinadra         : What do you think about her?

Tina                 : She is a tall woman. She has pointed nose and smiling face. And how about you?

Diandra         : She always uses the uniform elegantly. The conclusion is that she is good looking.

 

v  READING (Membaca)

Read the following text carefully and translate the underlined words into Indonesian.

MY FATHER

                My father‘s name is I Nyoman Yasa. He is a hardworking man. He works as a government employee.

                His body is tall, like my youngest brother. His hair is black and straight, same as mine. He has brown complexion because he likes working under the sun.

                I love talking to my father. He is a wise man who always gives me great advices. We learn

about being a hard worker from him. We love him very much. He is a great father for us.
